We’re excited to introduce Kevin Hackett, Site Lead & Equipment Technician at Atlantach Technical Services. Based on a client site in Limerick, Kevin plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless operations, providing expert support, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork among his colleagues.
Kevin’s journey with Atlantach is built on strong professional relationships and a passion for problem-solving. After completing his apprenticeship, he faced challenges in finding a company that would recognise his potential. That changed in 2002 when Atlantach’s current CEO, Connor Flanagan, and CCO, Declan Hennessy, then working at another company, took him under their wing. Sixteen years later, looking for a fresh challenge, he reconnected with Atlantach—and two years on, he hasn’t looked back.
In his role, Kevin ensures that projects stay on track, priorities are managed, and high standards are upheld. From sourcing components and managing spare parts to overseeing safety training and maintaining clear communication, he takes pride in delivering solutions. “My job is to ensure we can provide a solution to any task at hand, whether that’s electrical, mechanical, or software-related,” he explains.
Having worked in the industry for years, Kevin has seen significant changes, particularly in the push for higher quality standards. “The quality of workmanship expected is extremely high now, and rightly so. Gone are the days of temporary fixes—it’s all about Right First Time,” he says. This mindset has helped him successfully lead the mechanical installation of four new production lines, from uncrating to commissioning and handover.
Despite his many successes, Kevin acknowledges that career transitions can be challenging. “Starting fresh in a new environment, learning new systems, meeting new people—it’s daunting. And to top it off, I had a hip replacement in the middle of it!” He credits Atlantach’s supportive culture for making the transition easier and providing the tools he needed to succeed.
When it comes to teamwork, Kevin describes Atlantach as a place where appreciation and communication are at the heart of the culture. “The camaraderie in this company is heartwarming—there’s a real sense of belonging, and I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day.” His advice for those starting in the industry? “Be ambitious, don’t be shy—speak up and make yourself known. Back it up with knowledge and skills, and the world is yours.”
Outside of work, Kevin and his family embrace an active lifestyle, spending as much time as possible outdoors. Whether it’s camping, fishing, hurling, golf, canoeing, or even axe-throwing, they’re always on the go. “We’re always looking for the next adventure—carefully, of course!”
Looking ahead, Kevin remains motivated by the strong sense of appreciation he experiences at Atlantach. Encouraged and supported by his peers, he’s excited to continue growing, developing his career, and reaching new heights.
